The Blackbird Inn

Loved our recent stay at The Blackbird Inn! We(Grandma, myself, and college age daughter) were traveling on spring break and stayed for four days. The lakeside cottage offers beautiful views from every window while being close to town but having no neighbors just the lake and woods on either side. Enjoyed preparing our meals in the kitchen and eating in the library/fireplace room to watch the trumpeter swans and other birds. So peaceful and quiet! We ventured out to thrift and antique shop in Rice Lake, eat at the Norske Nook, walking along the lake seing the metal sculptures, native american mounds, and one day took a beautiful drive thru the National Forest to Ashland and back. Saw that river tubing is available little less than an hour away and would like to try that during warmer weather. If you have a canoe or kayak Rice Lake would be great to bring that and do that along the lake and the Red Cedar River. Also I don't snowmobile but saw that right up the hill from the cottage is the start of a 100 mile snowmobile trail so snowmobile folks would appreciate the location. Artwork and history of the cottage on display is wonderful, filter water at sink is some of the best tasting water I have ever had, water pressure great, and beds super comfy. Very thankful to have had the chance to stay at the Blackbird Inn. Thank you so much for having it available and hosting us! We will be back. Tom, Kathy, and Lena
